THE FOUNDATION: A PROMISE BORN IN CHILDHOOD

Our story began with a promise made in childhood. At ten years old, I met a relative living with a severe disability who had spent his entire life on a thin mattress, without the dignity or support every person deserves. His strength and quiet humour stayed with me long after he passed away, becoming the spark behind Able Together NSW. Today, we carry forward a vision of dignity, visibility, and opportunity for people with disabilities—here and around the world.

Able Together NSW was founded from a personal moment that reshaped my understanding of dignity and inclusion. At ten, during a visit to my parents’ home country, I met a relative—a quadriplegic man in his thirties—who had lived his entire life on a thin mattress. He had never been outside, never experienced independence, and had never even been given a name.

Despite this, he was bright, expressive, and gentle. His life, and his passing a year later, left a lasting imprint on me. I made a promise to myself: one day, I would help change the lives of people like him. Able Together NSW is the beginning of that promise. Our work is growing locally, but our vision is global—to advocate for people with disabilities in developing countries and create pathways to dignity, support, and visibility.

Our Mission:

To ensure that every person living with a disability has access to dignity, visibility, and meaningful opportunities—no matter where in the world they are.
